Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon are your hosts and they are not afraid to disagree with each other on a subject, and admit to each other that one of them is wrong, and what really makes this show unique is how they have a limited time on each subject so that the show doesn't become a half-hour gab fest over one thing in the sports world. |
Welcome everybody to the first PTI, FCHL edition. We kick off the show with the FCHL Orr division. Michael, this has been a revolving door division with all teams taking turns at the top. The only problem is, the teams here haven't been that great and we may have a sub .500 team in the playoffs this year. Right now the safe money is on either the Smokin' Aces or the Haz of Pain but there are still 8 weeks left in the season.
Tony this division continues to be a joke over the last few years. The only thing sure in the Orr Division right now is a new division champion will be crowned this year. Spartak has won this division 4 years in a row but that's on the backs of multiple expansion teams and sub par performances from the Rage, Money Train, and Real CAFius, all of whom have since left the league. | RUNDOWN

WILL THE REVOLVING DOOR OF THE ORR EVER STOP? | CROSBY
Ever since the controversy regarding player scratches GM Aman Loodu has been more elusive than the yeti. His team has been doing fine since his sabbatical though they've lost 2 in a row. Should the league be worried, Michae, when a GM like Loodu goes MIA? It would appear an Occupy Movement should occur for the FCHL to take notice that an original 5 GM isn't around.
Tony, Loodu is a big boy but he's decided to take his ball and go home. He and the league disagree on draft positioning and profit distribution but this is coming from the team that's won the most profit in league history. And Tony, the picks we're talking about here is one pick apart, not really a game changer if you ask me. It's a shame this GM has been 'away' all this time but the league does need him back, he just needs to get his mind back into running his team, perhaps more publicly. | RUNDOWN

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS GM AMAN LOODU? | CROSBY
The All Star Selections along with the Young Star Selections were released last week Michael and there are very clear snubs on the selection this year. I know he's been injured for most of 2011 but Crosby didn't make it to the All Star list and neither did Alex Ovechkin. There was also controversy with the 4th dman selected in the Young Stars. Justin Faulk was passed up in place of less heralded fellow rookie dman Marc-Andre Gragnani on a technicality.
Tony when you don't play or don't play well, you don't get selected to the All Stars. Crosby, we'll talk more about it in a bit, has been injured. If we base his All Star selection on what he did to the Wolfpack in week 7, sure, he's got my vote. Right now, 8 points just doesn't cut it. Ovechkin, same thing. What happened to Faulk is unfortunate but Tony, there's got to be a cut off somewhere or else we wait until the rapture. | RUNDOWN

WHO DIDN'T MAKE IT TO THE MID-YEAR DANCE? | CROSBY
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins leads all rookies in scoring this year and helping Wakka Wakka to a much better record this year than last. They currently sit on a playoff spot but 1st overall pick Nugent-Hopkins now sits on the IR. He is hoping to follow on the footsteps of Jeff Skinner who won last year's Calder trophy but that's now in jeopardy the longer he sits in the sidelines.
Nugent-Hopkins will be just fine, I think you're panicking like a teenage girl at a Beiber concert. His IR stint doesn't look to be long term and when he comes back the points will keep on coming and maybe stir Wakka Wakka back to the winning, since they haven't done much in recent weeks. The competition isn't there Tony, who's going to catch this guy? This kid is the real deal, the best since Stamkos so he'll be just fine. | RUNDOWN

DOES NUGENT-HOPKINS WIN ROOKIE OF THE YEAR? | CROSBY
The FCHL Hall Of Fame is now taking nominees for the first batch to be inducted. There are a lot of names that deserve to be in the Hall of Fame but Michael only a few will be taken. My vote is on Patrick Roy, he was so good the Puckheads had him on the roster while he sat at the beach sipping his retirement juice. My vote also goes to Jaromir Jagr, wait, he's back in the league isn't he? Do players in the KHL who no longer count for the FCHL qualify for this?
Why do you have to ruffle feathers? The KHL is a bad three letter word in this neck of the woods and we don't speak of it, except of course Alexander Radulov who seems to keep coming back, guess what boys, he's not coming back. If we talk Hall Of Fame, we have to give it to my man Joe Sakic. The only knock on Sakic in my books is he didn't play for Chicago. Sakic has led many of the teams he's been part of into championships including the SCC title with the Heat. Same goes with Scott Neidermayer who led the Heat, Hawks, and Brewing Co. to SCC titles. | RUNDOWN

WHO SHOULD BE ON THE FIRST HOF BALLOTS? | CROSBY
We talked about Sidney Crosby earlier and it's important to point out that he's played a total of 10 games in 2011. 8 of those games game in November/December before he got sidelined yet again with 2011's buzz word, concussion. This guy is suppose to lead Spartak in points but wih him on the shelf, Spartak's lack of depth got exposed this year. He's back practicing again but with a 3-11 season and Crosby not at 100%, Sid may consider taking the whole season off and GM Tyson Hay will need to pick up some much needed depth with an early pick.
Crosby is a beast Tony and he's not going to shelf himself for the season to rest up. He's a fighter, he's a player! Spartak may be out of it but Crosby doesn't care, he will still put up the points if or when he comes back. 12 points in 8 games this season including 4 points on his first game back proves to me Spartak can pull off some surprises if he's on the line up, just ask the Wolfpack. Spartak sits only 5 points back from an SCC playoff spot so why would Crosby pass up on this Tony? Why?! | RUNDOWN

SHOULD SID THE KID CALL IT A SEASON? | CROSBY
Wilbon, this has been a good first episode for us here. The burning question before we go is, who's going to blink first? The Bladers' dream season continues as they match the Rear Admirals win for win. These two teams will not meet each other again until maybe the playoffs and the Admirals won their only meeting this year. |
|||
Tony, it's as simple as this, the Bladers are hot, the Admirals are hot, the rest of the league just haven't been as consistent. The final word on this Tony, these two teams will likely face each other on the playoffs and that's when we see who blinks first. That's our show for now folks, keep checking Fantrax for those scores and highlights, sea you later. |
